re: TESG Disciplinary Policies (Amendment to TESG ROC)

TESG DISCIPLINARY POLICIES
Amendment to TESG Rules of Conduct

Here is a brief Summary of these Disciplinary Policies. However for a full understanding of the Summary, it is important to read the document. The Summary is repeated at the end of this document.

QUICK SUMMARY:
(TL; dr version)

Post hits you the wrong way? Seems personally offensive or inflammatory?
Minor dispute
: Take it up with the offender by Private Message (PM).
Rules of Conduct, First Violation: One warning and possible disciplinary actions, along with post moderation.
Rules of Conduct, Second Violation: Guild Suspension. Violator must reapply after the suspension period.
Third or Extreme Violation 3: Permanent Ban from the guild.

OVERVIEW:

Article 1. Our Rules of Conduct state in Article 1.: “No Trolls allowed, even if recently washed”.

This Amendment to the TESG Rules of Conduct provides procedures to be used to resolve an action that that violates the Guild Charter or Rules of Conduct. The Amendment recommends responses members may take to try to resolve an alleged violation of our Rules. It also gives guidelines to follow if peers cannot resolve an issue.

Our primary guideline is to “come together in a spirit of cooperation, sharing, and good will to help each other“ as stated in our Guild Charter.  Our guiding principle is “Try to remain Cordial, be courteous to your fellow Sages. No outright offensive attacks allowed.“ Article 2, Rules of Conduct.

Our Guild Charter states in GOVERNANCE, CONDUCT AND PARTICIPATION ,“We're a helping and welcoming community. Please be mindful of that as you interact with other Members. In particular, abusive behavior will not be tolerated in our discussion forums or in-game, and that includes things like verbal abuse, trolling, spam, and other interaction that is contrary to our goal of being a helping community of players."

We should “Be forgiving and try to have a thick skin, No one is perfect.“ (Article 3, Rules of Conduct). TESG supports free and open expression on our Forums, embracing differing opinions.

I. Peer Conflict Resolution

A.: ARTICLE 3 of our Rules of Conduct provides a procedure for peer resolution of conflicts. "If someone says something that you find offensive, take it up with them in a Private Message (PM) and remember the first two rules. We all come from different areas and have different backgrounds. What might not be offensive to you might be to someone else and vice versa. More than likely the person just made a mistake and meant nothing by it." (Don’t call out someone publicly).

B.: ARTICLE 4, Rules of Conduct specifies steps to take if peers cannot resolve a conflict: “Be respectful.  If you can’t find a resolution privately amongst yourselves ask a Moderator (Master Sage or Elder Sage) to get involved (by PM). Do not engage in open forum fights or flame wars. Open attacks will get one warning. Subsequent offenses will result in being banned from TESG.”

NOTE: Administration will deal with major offenders accordingly. Should members feel that a post made is in violation of our code of conduct and values, they should contact TESG administration, (Elder and Master Sages). Peer conflict resolution should be used to resolve minor disputes.

 II. Disciplinary Actions

A.: Moderators and Master Sages are governed by our Guild Charter and Rules of Conduct. Actions by Moderators are under the guidance of the Master Sages.

B.: In the case of dispute with a Moderator, a member can appeal the decision by PM to the Master Sages. The appeal must include a link to the post(s) at issue. The member making the appeal should forward any PMs discussing the issue to the Master Sages.

C.: Moderators will check all posts with external links and delete links that do not conform to our TESG Charter or Guild Principles. The Moderator shall replace the deleted link with a comment "external link deleted" and the Moderator's name. If an external link is acceptable, the Moderator shall post a note "Approved external link" and the Moderator's name.

Moderators will edit a post found offensive or inflammatory. The Moderator shall include a comment in italics that a portion of the post was deleted, and include the Moderator’s name. The Moderator shall send a Warning PM to the poster notifying the member of offensive or inflammatory content. The Moderator shall include the Master Sages in the address for the Warning PM. The warning message will inform the poster that subsequent offensive or inflammatory posts will result in further administrative action including but not limited to demotion and/or suspension.

D.: Subsequent offensive or inflammatory posts after demotion shall be immediately forwarded to the Master Sages. If the Master Sages deem the post a violation of our Guild Charter or Rules of Conduct, the offender will be suspended from the Guild immediately.  Notice of suspension will be placed in the member’s Application File.

E.: Decisions of the Master Sages are final.

F.: After a cooling off period of three to ten days, a suspended member may re-apply for membership in The Elder Sages Guild, stating clearly in their application that they are reapplying after suspension, and giving reasons for the new application. It is the sole discretion of the Master Sages to accept or deny the re-application.

G: If the offenses are egregious (extreme, grievous, intolerable), the offender will be subject to a Permanent Ban. The Master Sages will place a Notice of Permanent Ban in the offenders Application file. The Permanent Ban also will placed on the offenders e-mail address if any, TESG User ID,  and character names. The offender will be notified of the Permanent Ban by a PM to their Guild Launch account.

NOTE: For the good of the Guild, the Master Sages may take direct disciplinary action at any step of this process, depending on the severity of the offence, and regardless of the number of previous warnings. The Master Sages are governed by our Guild Charter and Rules of Conduct and their decisions are final.TESG Disciplinary actions are effective both on the TESG website, and ESO in-game TESG Guild activities.

It is Guild Policy to report any violations of the Zenimax Online Code of Conduct, End User License Agreement, and Terms of Service. Our Moderators will not hesitate to end your membership in TESG and report you to Zenimax if you make the decision to break ZOS rules as outlined in their documents, which our Administration has been so kind as to post for you in our Guild Documents for easy access.
