Charter of The Elder Sages Guild

Version 2.0| 27, July, 2014

The Elder Sages Guild is a community of gamers, primarily centered on The Elder Scrolls Online. We come together in the spirit of cooperation, sharing, and preserving the values set forth by Bethesda Game Studios, that players should have freedom in games. That being said, we encourage members to experience the game however they want.

Freedom in Games
We are free to experience both sides of a story, whether in ESO or any other game. You are not required to participate in group events. You’ll never be shunned for missing a raid or PvP run. We encourage you to join multiple guilds. Just be aware that other guilds may not hold the same values and they will need to resolve that conflict internally.

Share your discoveries on our Forums for other guild members to find. Include things like dungeons, Skyshards, PvE quests, whatever you found interesting, but please mark them with spoiler warnings where applicable.  Members are encouraged to arrange Guild-oriented Groups for planned game play, and to participate in Groups as opportunities arise, but Members are by no means required to do so.

Guild Structure
TESG is a very structured guild, but the friendly atmosphere blurs the lines between the ranks. We govern ourselves through a Council of three Master Sages advised by an Elder Sages' Council of Officers who serve as forum moderators and in game moderators as well as undefined individual roles as the needs arise. The Master Sages comprise the Leadership, with advice and input from the Elder Sages' Council. The Sages' Council provides a forum for general discussion among our membership and allows for a place for administration to get feedback from the members. If you wish to learn more about the ranks, please refer to the appropriate document on our forums.

Conduct
We're a helping and welcoming community. Please be mindful of that as you interact with other members. In particular, abusive behavior will not be tolerated in our discussion forums or in-game, and that includes verbal abuse, trolling, spam, or other interaction contrary to our goal of being a friendly community of gamers.

Our Rules of Conduct are posted along with this Guild Charter in TESG Guild Documents section of our web site. This central repository ensures our Guild Documents are readily available to everyone, visitor and member alike, for ready reference.

Expectations
Once you’ve joined us, our expectation is that you will not remain a bystander. Once you become a member of The Elder Sages Guild, please understand that the most benefit gained from membership in any guild is through interaction with other members. If you should decide to leave the guild, know you will always be welcome under the guild’s roof if you decide to return. Remember, the forums are always open and are a great place to forge friendships.

Governance Roles
The Master Sages are the guardians of the original vision shared by Guild Founders Frodos_Bane and Turn2, and incorporate ideals of the Founding Members:  Auldjohn, Aren Liore, Lord Luciendar, Seikon, Choppercan, Lady Aramina, FairMommy, TheNiceGuy, and several others, to be a helping, learning family of adventurers who do not want to be bound by gaming stereotypes.

The Master Sages have overall responsibility for preserving the Charter, maintaining and administering the Guild Website, interacting with and forming alliances with other Guilds, and managing the membership roster. These roles are to be considered a group ownership, not positions to attain.

Mission Statement
We are a guild to let people play the game how they want, with friends who can help each other with group content. To band together to protect the ideals presented in past TES games by Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks, and to promote a friendly atmosphere for a growing community of gamers.

History
The Elder Sages Guild was founded August 31, 2013 during the Elder Scrolls Online Beta. The first version of our guild was a private Facebook group with permission from Zenimax’s Gina Bruno. Shortly thereafter, the guild created our first website hosted by GuildPortal. Several months later, we found our current home at GuildLaunch. Not all of our founding members are still with us, but the founders have done an amazing service to the guild and community, so special thanks go to them.

Join Us
Stop by our guild hall at www.eldersages.com and submit an application, we’re always looking for fun, friendly, and active members to join our small community. Most importantly, always remember to Have Fun!!
